You give me two characters with really traumatising backstories that start off hating each other but then are forced to be around each other and then they realise they LOVE EACH OTHER, what more fluff can you ask for? Another point that I would like to mention is women empowerment! There are many elements that shine through, one in particular is Alosa’s all female crew (with a few exceptions). People have told me that I will eventually get sick of romance, I don’t think think that will be happening anytime soon because any good enemies to lovers story, SIGN ME UP!!! I was binge reading just so I could see how it played out between Alosa and Riden.

Besides I’m very satisfied with the ending. I mean, I would kill for some more Alosa and Riden smush but then I feel like it would then become forced and I hate it when authors do that.

I’ve seen quite a few people wanting a book three but I think it make sense that this is a duology because the plots slot into exactly two books. Its been a while since I’ve read a book about pirates and thoroughly enjoyed it. But not to worry, for Alosa has a few tricks up her sleeve, and no lone pirate can stop the Daughter of the Pirate King.ĭaughter of the Pirate King duology really caught me off guard when it came how much I enjoyed it! So Goodreads tells me that this is a fantasy book but personally, I would classify it as adventure driven by romance.

More than a match for the ruthless pirate crew, Alosa has only one thing standing between her and the map: her captor, the unexpectedly clever and unfairly attractive first mate, Riden. Sent on a mission to retrieve an ancient hidden map-the key to a legendary treasure trove-seventeen-year-old pirate captain Alosa deliberately allows herself to be captured by her enemies, giving her the perfect opportunity to search their ship.
